On the day before the election, both candidates continue to gain support and get their message out in these last hours.
Lansing Mayor Tony Benavides receives the support of Congressman John Conyers of Detroit. The campaign feels the endorsement will attract some of the African American vote.
State Senator Virg Bernero spent the day at his campaign headquarters, making phone calls to voters. Bernero says the last few days have included a little of everything, from visits to neighborhoods and churches, to rallies at his headquarters.
Both men say they are confident heading down the last leg of the race. The polls show the race is a virtual dead heat, with the undecided vote, mainly African American and females, the deciding factor.
