Officials say about 80,000 to 100,000 visited E. Lansing for this year’s Great Lakes Folk Fest. But, did local business benefit?
The owner of Lou & Harries Restaurants says he picked the Folk Fest as the weekend to launch his new family dining restaurant the L.H. Grill Room. He said he was pleased with the festival and at a minimum it was an excellent way to advertise.
The Marketing Manager of the clothing store, Cool Waves, said the traffic that visited his store was disappointing though there was a bit of a pick up in customers.
The city of E. Lansing donates about $125,000 towards the festival.
That’s less than a third of a percent of its budget according to the city manager.
