Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings says his office is investigating the shooting of a 20-year-old Detroit man Friday night. He says the office is unsure whether charges will be brought against the man or the Lansing Police officers involved. But the man will be arraigned on four felony charges, including attempted murder, stemming form a shooting in Lansing last Wednesday. The man is expected to be released from the hospital this weekend.
The man was shot by officers around 9:30 p.m. Friday. Police were trying to serve a warrant that was out for his arrest. Officials say they received a tip that the man would be in the area around Jolly and Waverly.
Officers were sent to the neighborhood, found the car and made a traffic stop. The driver exited the car, but the passenger, who police were looking for, brandished a gun, according to police. Police fired shots and the man was hit.
Police are not releasing the names of the man or the officers involved. But they say the investigation is ongoing.
