The Lansing School District is in its beginning stages of pursuing a bond proposal for renovations on some of Lansing's high schools and the construction of a brand new Pattengill Middle School.
The bond proposal would be for about $70 million. Two years ago a district bond initiative was clearly defeated by voters. The district was asking for $388 million back then.
The bond would be divided into two parts. School board members say a big chunk would go towards a new Pattengill Middle School. A separate vote would include money for athletic fields and a pool.
The district can ask the State Department of Treasury for permission to put the bond proposal on the November ballot. Once granted, the board will decide whether to place the measure of the ballot.
