Jeff Lutz, the Eaton County Sheriff's Deputy who is accused of shooting himself and blaming it on a black man, was in court Friday.
At a hearing, the defense requested a change of venue due to all the media coverage and the judge says he will consider it.
The defense also motioned to disqualify prosecutor Jeff Sauter from this case as Lutz often worked under his supervision. The Attorney Generals office will make that decision.
Meanwhile, Lutz no longer has a curfew and doesn't have to wear a tether.
He is allowed to drink alcohol, but cannot have any contact with his estranged wife.
