The primary election is over and now the top two candidates running for Lansing Mayor are bracing for the last leg of the campaign.
Lansing Mayor Tony Benavides and state senator Virg Bernero are the two who made it through Tuesday’s primary. Fifteen percent of Lansing voters headed to polls and Benavides won by about 2,000 votes.
Now the focus shifts to the November general election and what strategies the candidates will implement in the upcoming months. Bernero has challenged Benavides to at least four public debates
Benavides says he is not opposed to the debates and has already given the OK to his campaign manager to negotiate with Bernero's camp.
