Library Millage

The primary election for the seat of Lansing Mayor is less than one week away. But there are more issues on the ballot that could have a resounding effect on voters.

The Capital Area Library Millage is asking voters for 1.46 mills for the next three years, raising more than $8 million for the upcoming year. Without these funds, 13 libraries in the Ingham County region would be in jeopardy of shutting down.

Assistant Director says a significant portion of its funding comes from property taxes. The new millage would cost resident $73 for a home valued at $100,000, an increase of $9.80.

The money would go towards continued services, improved materials, and expanded hours.
