Child Tax Credit

A child tax credit increase, as part of the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003, will give a boost to many mid-Michigan parents.

Lawmakers expanded the child tax credit for this year from $600 to $1,000. Starting on Friday, checks will go in the mail and parents will receive $400 extra per child.

The checks will go out in three waves. The date in which it will be mailed depends on the last two digits of the parents social security numbers. If your number ends in 00-to-33, the check goes out on July 25.

If your number ends in 34-to-66, the check goes out on Aug. 1, and from 67-to-99, Aug. 8. Check with your local government agencies if you are not sure if you qualify.
