Nineteen Mid-Michigan marines are back in town Thursday evening after serving nearly eight months in Iraq.

Lansing's Charlie Company 124 1st Battalion 24th Marines arrived in Lansing Thursday morning. Dozens of family members and friends greeted the marines, who will begin the deactivation process next week.

The marines will have four days to spend with their families before they must return back to Lansing's headquarters and return to reserve status.

Meanwhile, nearly 100 marines from the same Charlie Company will be arriving back in town next week.
