The first televised debate in governor's race is set forWILX on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m.
Look for a formal announcement later this week that Gov. Jennifer Granholm and GOP challenger Dick DeVos have agreed to stage three televised debates beginning with the first one on WILX and Michigan Public TV on Monday, Oct. 2, live, at 8 p.m.
After that, the two will meet in Grand Rapids on Oct. 10 and again in Southfield on Oct. 16. The latter will be a town hall meeting. The second debate will be more formal and the first one will have no rules, which means the two candidates will be free to talk with one another about the issues.
