Project Safe Neighborhood Pays Off

A federal program pays off in the Lansing area with the sentencing of a well known drug trafficker last week.

Benjamin Foreman will spend the next 25 years of his life behind bars for armed drug trafficking and possession with intent to deliver cocaine and crack cocaine.

His severe punishment was, in part, due to federal sentencing part of the Project Safe Neighborhood program. It's been in place in the Lansing area since 2003. The goal is to arrest and remove violent felons from communities.

Foreman is one of 59 people arrested since the program began in mid-Michigan. More than 30 additional cases are pending.
