Mark Mayes, Lansing Schools Spokesperson, says 50 letters were sent Thursday and Friday telling teachers they would have their jobs back next year. But more than 100 are still wondering if they’ll be teaching next year.
Jerry Swartz, Teachers Union President, says he is pleased that 50 will return to their original jobs next fall but is hoping that an additional 20 to 24 will be hired back.
Swartz was disappointed that the district didn’t act sooner, but said accuracy was the reason for the delay.
The district hopes to begin the recall process as soon as the week of July 21.
