Northwest Airlines flight attendants marched alongside national and local union leaders, politicians and workers in Michigan's leading Labor Day parade Monday morning.

Dozens of uniformed Northwest flight attendants walked near the front of the annual march in Detroit. They were carrying placards promoting their strategy of selective strikes against the company, which has been seeking pay and benefit cuts as it reorganizes under federal bankruptcy protection.

One placard said "40 percent pay cut, 20 percent more work… enough is enough."

AFL-CIO President John Sweeney also was among those marching in the parade.

Sweeney, United Auto Workers President Ron Gettelfinger and Michigan's two Democratic U.S. senators, Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow, walked together, holding up an AFL-CIO banner.
