Carol Ackles received a 40 to 60-year sentence for the death of her daughter, 22-year-old Sarina Ganser.
Ganser was shot and killed after a domestic dispute with her mother in July of 2002. Ackles was also shot twice during the argument and was arrested shortly after she recovered.
A recommended sentencing was a minimum of 25 years, but Judge James Giddings gave a stiffer sentence saying that Ackles' behavior since the shooting has shown she takes no responsibility and shows little remorse.
Ackles has 42 days to appeal the sentencing.
