Lansing Prepared for Pipeline Duel

By  |

A recent court ruling denies Lansing’s appeal against the petroleum pipeline scheduled to run through South Lansing. The court, however, says the city can deny Wolverine permission to enter Lansing and that could provoke an expensive court battle.

A wolverine spokesperson says they’re prepared to spend about a million to protect their investment in the planned route.

Lansing officials say they plan to protect the public from the pipeline, though the City attorney says he can’t imagine the city will match the million-dollar figure.

Council members call the pipeline dangerous.

Wolverine says the route is in the safest areas available.

The next step could mean a court battle in Michigan’s Supreme Court or Federal court in as soon as thirty days.
