United Way Gets New President

The Capital Area United Way board of directors unanimously voted Michael Brown, a former United Way president, as the new leader of the group.

Brown, currently an East Lansing resident, served as the president of the Genesee and Lapeer County United Ways from 1996 to 2002. He was also the Executive Director of the Flint American Red Cross from 1994 to 1996.

Brown will begin his duties as soon as possible. The United Way's major fundraising campaign will begin at the beginning of July. Brown will oversee the management of a nearly $7 million budget.

Currently, Brown is negotiating his contract. He will earn between $70,000 and $85,000 per year.
