A Livingston County woman charged with child abuse for spanking her son has been acquitted by a jury.
The Circuit Court verdict in the case of Darcy-Ann Cervelli of Putnam Township was returned this morning.
Cervelli testified last week about the March 11 incident in which she says she swatted her 13-year-old son five times with a paddle.
He claimed that he had been paddled about 30 times.
Authorities said the incidents caused abrasions and severe bruising on the boy's buttocks, legs and thighs.
