After eleven years serving on the East Lansing city council, Mark Meadows is resigning.

He is running on the democratic ticket for the 69th District state house seat and wants the council to remain non-partisan.

Meadows was East Lansing's mayor from 1997 to 2005.

His resignation takes effect September Fifteenth. The council then has thirty days to fill his seat.

Meadows says he will now focus on his campaign.
