Draheim Found Guilty of Murder

David Draheim is found guilty of second-degree murder in the killing of 36-year-old Jeanette Kirby. Kirby was found raped and stabbed to death in 1986 in Burchfield Park.

The jury deliberated for three days until the verdict was reached Tuesday afternoon. Jurors say a point of contention was if the murder was premeditated or deliberate, the difference between first and second degree.

They say ultimately there was not enough evidence to convict Draheim of the more serious crime. The assistant attorney general says the case was tried as first degree, but he says he's satisfied with the outcome.

Second-degree murder carries a penalty of up to life in prison. The sentencing for Draheim will be held on July 17.
