Race Weekend in Brooklyn

The Firestone Indy 400 is at Michigan International Speedway Sunday. It will rev up not only cars, but also the local economy.

Area businesses are planning special events to bring in race fans in town for the fun. For example, Friday the Victory Lanes Speedway invited Indy Racers to hit its go-cart track and meet with the press. Meanwhile area restaurants and bars are planning many parties.

The Brooklyn Irish Hills Chamber of Commerce is working closely with MIS and area businesses to help them serve each other. Chamber Executive Director Linda Reynolds says more than 40,000 people are expected to be in town spending money. She says it could give the economy a boost amounting to about $12 million.

Tickets are still available for the race. For more information go to www.mispeedway.com.
