The terror alert enacted following the Sept. 11 tragedies was raised from yellow to orange. The increase means a high alert for a terrorist attempt and state police are preparing.
The alert was put out in response to attacks abroad.
The terrorism in Morocco and Saudi Arabia was part of the reason for the high alert; both attacks there involved bombings of non-critical or soft targets.
In response, state police are increasing patrols of critical infrastructure and buildings and also keeping their awareness high of “soft targets” in mid-Michigan.
Authorities are quick to point out that no targets in Michigan have been specifically sighted.
