Celebration Cinema is now offering MoPix technology in one of its Lansing movie theaters. The purpose of the closed captioning and descriptive narration is to help cater to those who are hearing or vision impaired.
For those who are deaf, a plexi-glass screen situated in the armrest is able to pick up close captioning reflected from an LED board at the back of the auditorium. For the blind a headset is available that gives a descriptive narration of what is going on during the movie. For example, they may hear about a character's wardrobe, or what the landscape looks like.
The system costs about $25, 000. And currently it is only available in one theater. For movie listings you can call Celebration Cinema at 517-393-SHOW.
