If you want fuel for under $3.00 a gallon, it is for sale in Delta Township at the Blodgett's Shell station on Waverly Road. However, not everyone can use it. Its Ethanol based E-85.
E-85 is a blend of about 85 percent corn based ethanol, and 15 percent gasoline. Experts say the benefits are it burns cleaner, is renewable and produced in the USA, and supports the country's energy independence. However, while it is less expensive per gallon, E-85 does not get quite the mileage that regular gas gets.
Blodgett's Shell is one of only about a dozen Michigan stations to offer the fuel. Its owner, Ross Blodgett says it will be a long time before his business ever sees a profit from E-85, but still, selling it is the right thing to do.
Ethanol advocates say many people can use the cheaper fuel, but don't even know it. You can check to see if your vehicle is ethanol or E-85 compatible in your owner's manual, or on your gas door.
