Eight-year-old Blake Miller of Greenville died Saturday evening shortly after riding the Fireball ride at the Ionia Free Fair. According to family he passed out during the ride and was taken off immediately. His father, Roger Miller, tried to perform CPR. Blake was then taken to Ionia County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His older sister, Courtney Mary Miller, says Blake did suffer from heart murmurs but was given a clean bill of health from doctors. Fair officials say the Fireball has been checked by inspectors and deemed safe as have all the rides on the midway.
An autopsy has been completed. But official results are not yet available. More tests are underway to determine the cause of death.
