Boys Arrested With Gun

Their intended victim was a 14-year-old boy, who was shot in the neck with one of those pellets. A woman was also shot in the buttocks while the boys were leaving the scene, a Quick Mark at the corner of Woodbridge and First Streets in Jackson.

The boys had an Airsoft gun. It shoots little plastic pellets. Even though it is not a deadly weapon, they're being charged as though it was. The law only requires that the victims believe they are faced with a dangerous weapon.

These young boys already had rap sheets. The police are hopeful an arrest like this can help to straighten them out.

"We hope at 10 years old that we can intervene in a child’s life at this early stage to prevent further crimes, and steer him in another direction," says Deputy Chief Matt Heins of the Jackson Police Department.
