Republican gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos' campaign has spent more than $10 million buying TV ad time.
Rich Robinson of the nonpartisan Michigan Campaign Finance Network says that's more than any candidate has ever spent on TV ad time for a state office in Michigan.
Robinson reviewed advertising logs at 28 Michigan TV stations to develop his figures. DeVos, a wealthy western Michigan businessman, is a former president of the parent company of Amway.
DeVos began the ad campaign in mid-February. Since then, he has gone from far back in the polls to leading Democratic incumbent Gov. Granholm.
