Those are the phrases you've heard in many headlines recently about Michigan's economy. Meanwhile, one local manufacturer says it is desperately looking for workers.
Managers at Len Industries in Leslie, Michigan say they've been looking for workers since November with little luck. The company still has 30 positions to fill, with wages around $16 an hour. It is looking for workers with a mechanical background. Training will be provided.
"We tried want ads, we tried government agencies. None of it worked," says Craig Wozena, Sales Manager at Len Industries. He says now the company is trying a television and radio ad campaign, and finally having some luck.
Michigan Works Spokesperson Kate Tykocki says there are other companies in the same position. She says if you're looking for a job Michigan Works can help you find those employers so desperately searching. Best of all, the help is free.
