Lansing leaders courted developers Wednesday, a group of about 10 in town to tour the BWL's Ottawa Power Station.
Michael Shea, a Detroit developer, calls the building a jewel ready to be rescued. Shea also says retail, office and living space would be a nice fit for it. Gary Klepper, touring the site on behalf of his clients, says it has endless possibilities.
The tour was part of a pre-bid workshop for redevelopment of the building. The morning was filled with meetings and presentations on everything from available tax breaks to what's currently going on in the city.
The deadline for proposals on the property is August 18. Bob Trezise, Director of Lansing's Economic Development Corporation, says they hope to have a developer or developers picked by mid-December. In June, the City began a national search for developers.
