Officials say Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick remains hospitalized today in Houston where he is recovering from diverticulitis, an inflammation of the intestines.
Spokesman James Canning says "He's doing well."
Kilpatrick is expected to return to Detroit this week.
All of his appointments for the coming week will be canceled and rescheduled. He will be on bed rest.
The 36-year-old Kilpatrick became ill Thursday while attending a Church of God In Christ convention.
The second-term mayor checked himself into a hospital Friday morning and was diagnosed with diverticulitis.
