The Eaton County Sheriff's Sergeant charged with faking his own shooting is competent to stand trial.
A judge made the ruling at a hearing today after Jeff Lutz underwent psychiatric testing.
Because Lutz violated his bond, the judge ordered him to be attached to a tether that detects alcohol use.
Lutz is also on a mandatory curfew and required to do 20 hours of community service each week.
Prosecutors say Lutz shot himself on March 12 and then blamed it on a black man.
