Heartburn is a common problem for many people and cause many to have sleepless nights. A new hi-tech device is helping doctors to diagnosing the problem easier.
Most people are aware when the acid in their stomach flows into their esophagus, the sourness and burning are unmistakable. While some people have no idea of what's going on.
Some symptoms from heartburn reflux can be a sore throat, lose their voice or have asthma. Many times patients have an upper GI done but that is difficult for some to do because the procedure means putting a tube down your nose and throat for 24 hours.
There is a new procedure though called the Bravo PH System. It relies on a high tech capsule about the size of a multi vitamin that's put in place during an outpatient procedure. Patients go about normally while the system collects data for 48 hours.
Once the information is collected the Bravo capsule passes through the body within a few days.
