Investigators are calling the fire Sunday night in Lansing suspicious. They say for no apparent reason, both buildings were burning in the rear at the same time when the fire department arrived.
The fires started just after 9 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of E. Barnes Rd. in Lansing.
Flames burned the back of both buildings. One person was in one of the homes and was safely evacuated. Investigators say they didn't know what caused the fires but they say it is suspicious because they don't see how the flames would have spread from one building to the other.
Only one of the homes was occupied. The other was red-tagged for demolition.
