Just four blocks down from the courthouse, right smack in the middle of Clinton Avenue, lies the latest addition to dowtown St. Johns.
"We're able to work on making the reality of these WWII guys back in the 40's the reality that it is today."
Dennis Scott is the Chairman of the Clinton County Veterans Memorial Association. He says the idea of a memorial has been around for about 60 years, but the actually planning only started in 1998. Construction began a little more than a year ago. And it's just about complete.
"If we hadn't had people that were willing to fight and die for the principals which this country was founded, there wouldn't be a United States of America."
Although it took eight long years from concept to completion and $300,000 in dontations, Dennis says he's ecstatic to finally give honor to the military men and women of Clinton County.
"This has turned out beyond our wildest expectations."
The memorial is being dedicated on Tuesday, July 4th at 10am, and the ceremony is expected to last an hour. It's located in downtown St. Johns.
