The Michigan Department of Corrections is looking into the probation officer in charge of watching over the woman convicted of forging checks at Vision Care in East Lansing and accused of stealing money from Tobacco Free Michigan.
Rebecca Chapman is on probation for forging checks at Vision Care in East Lansing. Part of her probation orders require her not to work at a job in which she works with money.
However, while she was on probation, she continued working as the office manager, handling money, at Tobacco Free Michigan.
Corrections officials say it is the probation officer's responsibility to enforce terms of probation. They are now investigating why he did not stop Chapman from working at Tobacco Free Michigan when she was sentenced.
