Cancer Survivors Celebrate Life

By  |

Cancer survivors of all ages joined together at Patriarche Park in East Lansing to celebrate their successful fight against the disease.

Survivors shared stories about their experiences with cancer. They also honored a few people as survivors of the year. The festivities, sponsored by Sparrow Regional Cancer Center, included a picnic, music and clowns.

Several survivors said it's very important to keep a positive attitude in order to beat the disease.

The American Cancer Society predicts doctors will diagnose nearly 46,000 Michigan residents with cancer during the year 2002. However, doctors remind people more than half of cancer patients survive.
