The price to see a Michigan State University football game may be on the rise for some season ticket holders.
Fans could face premiums of up to $500 per season ticket to keep their seats in Spartan Stadium. Under a new plan developed by the athletic department, some ticket holders would pay between $200 and $500 a seat on top of the seat's price.
Seats included in the proposal are in the stadium's lower tier between the end zones. The focus is to avoid cutting non-revenue sports.
Athletic Director Ron Mason says the department needs extra revenue to offset it's projected budget deficit of close to $3 million. The plan could eliminate almost all of that.
The proposal goes in front of the MSU Board of Trustees on May 9.
