George W. Bush made his ninth presidential visit to Michigan Monday, saying that Iraq will have a steady friend in the American people.

He spoke Monday afternoon in Dearborn to a supportive crowd of Iraqi Americans.

The president appeared at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center after a private meeting with about 16 Iraqi-American leaders.

Hundreds of people interrupted his speech with chants of `U-S-A, U-S-A.'

Bush says the experience of Iraqi immigrants to the United States shows that Iraqis can flourish under conditions of freedom and democracy.

He says the United Nations should lift the economic sanctions against Iraq now that Saddam Hussein has been deposed.
