East Lansing School Board conducts its lottery for a winner to the June election, but a request for a recount may stall election results for weeks.
East Lansing school board candidate Bill Donohue won the election lottery against his opponent Randy Bell. The two tied at 1,259 votes in the election on June 10.
Two slips of paper were put into a container, one marked elected and one marked not elected. Donohue was lucky enough to pick the right piece of paper, but the election may not be over yet.
Shortly after, Bell announced his request for a recount. The request will be submitted to the Ingham County Board of Canvassers at a special meeting next week. A date will then be scheduled for the recount.
