3 of 4 Contested Ballot Initiatives Will be on the Ballot

The Michigan Supreme Court has ordered that three voter initiatives be placed on Michigan's ballot for the November election but has rejected a fourth.
The court Wednesday approved proposed amendments to the Michigan Constitution that would strengthen collective bargaining rights, require statewide voter approval of new bridges or tunnels to Canada and require a two-thirds supermajority in the Legislature or a statewide vote to raise taxes.
But the justices turned town a proposed initiative to add eight more casinos in Michigan. They say the measure is flawed because it fails to note that it would weaken the authority of the state Liquor Control Commission.
The State Board of Canvassers has deadlocked on a series of votes to place the initiatives on the ballot.
