Toyota and its Lexus luxury brand dominated the J-D Power vehicle quality rankings again this year, taking the top spots in 11 out of 19 categories.
Five Toyotas and six Lexuses were the top-quality vehicles in their segments including the compact Corolla and mid-sized Camry.
Porsche led all brands overall in initial quality, averaging only 91 problems per 100 vehicles. The industry average is 124 problems per 100 cars and trucks.
Lexus came in second in the nameplate rankings with 93 problems per 100 vehicles, while Hyundai finished third with 102. Toyota came in fourth with 106.
Of Detroit's Big Three, G-M scored highest, winning the pickup and large car segments with the Chevrolet Silverado and Pontiac Grand Prix. The Chrysler Town & Country was the top-ranked van, and the Ford Ranger won for midsize pickup.
