It happened around 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at M-60 and Michigan Avenue in Blackman Township, just outside of Jackson. One witness says it looked like the truck driver never even touched his brakes. He was crossing the tracks on a private drive entering a business when the train hit him. Police say he died on impact.
Fifteen passengers got minor injuries. Dozens others were left stranded at the Jackson Amtrak Station. Amtrak worked to get them on other trains or buses as quickly as possible.
