Investigators say slippery conditions on Coolidge Rd. in East Lansing contributed to the accident that killed an 11-year-old girl.
Patricia Jean Owen, a fifth grade student at Marble Elementary, died when the pickup she was in slid into a telephone pole around 9:30 p.m. Friday night.
The 22-year-old driver of the truck lost control on the icy pavement.
Another 12-year-old and a 19-year-old woman in the pickup were seriously hurt. The driver was treated for minor injuries. Police say no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
A funeral for Patricia Jean Owen is scheduled for Friday at noon in East Lansing.
