Michigan's unemployment rate rose to seven-point-two percent in April, up from the month before.

The rate has increased three straight months since January, when it was close to six percent, the lowest in nearly four years.

Michigan's seasonally adjusted jobless rate remains well above the national average, which was four-point-seven percent in April.

State officials say more than 50,000 people have entered Michigan's work force looking for work since January.
