Since the middle of May, someone has been setting fires in the Lansing area.
"For such a small geographic area, it's a large number of fires," Assistant Fire Marshall Brad Drury said.
Three houses, two garages and a playground... 13 fires in all have been started in the area from Martin Luther King Boulevard to Capital Avenue and Willow Street to Ionia Street.
The latest one was set to a home last Monday on West Lenawee Street.
"All the fires have been started with very simple materials," Drury said.
Dury said since the arsons started about three months ago, they've escalated from fires in shrubs and bushes to homes and garages.
"The major concern at the Fire Marshall's office is if this is the same person or same group of people," Drury said. "It tends to be a progression with people who like to play with fire."
The Fire Marshall's office can not yet confirm that all the fires are linked, but they do have similarities.
"We are reviewing reports and soon we will be going door to door, knocking on doors trying to get suspects," he said.
Some neighbors say they suspect a group of teenagers could be to blame.
The Lansing Fire Department hopes they find the arsonists before another fire breaks out
