They may sound like telemarketers at first, but they're not. Ingham County John McCain supporters are calling Mid-Michigan residents on behalf of the Republican campaign.
They say it's all to further the excitement that they say the Republican National Convention is already bringing to the country. But, with convention on TV why is it so important to still make the calls?
"Because of the fact that Michigan is going to be such a swing state this year in the election. It's important that we get all of our people out to vote, and the best way to get them to vote is to get them excited about the race," Michigan Republican, Jeff Oesterle says.
Oesterle adds that's not a hard task- what is, is getting more Mid-Michiganders to vote come November.
"Republicans are a minority in a big union town like this," Republican Chris Greenfields says.
The Ingham County Republicans think they're making progress with the phone calls. They say people have welcomed them.
"To see people as enthusiastic as they are, is inspiring to all of us," Greenfield says.
Enthusiasm that both sides of the political spectrum say they haven't seen in years, and they think it may have to do with the candidates on the ticket.
"It's a very historic time. It's something that i never thought i would get to see on either side," Obama supporter Marian Bryant says.
That's now reality, and one of the only things the Mid-Michigan Republicans and Democrats can agree on is that this election will be a monumental chapter in the history books.
