State troopers are going after convicted sex offenders who failed to register where they live.
Thirty-one unregistered sex offenders in the Lansing area have been arrested so far.
Police say although convicted sex offenders must register where they live and then check in as directed, many don't.
Of those arrested, 25 were charged with failing to register as a sex offender. That's a felony punishable by up to four years in prison and maximum fines of $2,000.
Michigan's registry gives people the names and addresses of convicted sex offenders and their charges.
