Jackson Man Charged in Shaken Baby Case

David Monroe, 25, sat quietly as he heard the one criminal charge against him. Friday, Monroe was arraigned on a First Degree Child Abuse charge and as early as Monday he could be facing a murder charge as well.

It was originally reported Monroe had shook his girlfriend's nearly one month old baby, Jaylen Romer, and she died from those injuries. Jackson County's Chief Assistant Prosecutor Mark Blumer tells News Ten Jaylen is brain dead, but she's being kept on life support until more tests are done.

Jackson Police say Monroe violently shook the baby girl in a fit of frustration earlier this week. He's being held in the Jackson County Jail on a bond of $250,000.
