Paying Military Money in Taxes?

By  |

Gov. Jennifer Granholm says she will support GOP efforts to beef up the monthly paychecks of state civil servants who've been called to active military duty. If they were at home they might be earning around $50,000 but Uncle Sam pays them considerably less.

The pending yet to be introduced legislation will have state taxpayers make up the different.

Granholm acknowledges it will be expensive but she says it's the right thing to do to show our support for the men and women in uniform. The UAW, which represents some of those workers, agrees with her but also wonders where the money is coming from.

The governor tells News Ten, "We will figure that out."
