Providers Feel the Pinch

You feel the pinch when the price at the pump jumps, but what about providers who depend on driving for their services?

The Tri-County Office on Aging runs the "Meal on Wheels" program. Assistant Director Donna Hobart says it will cost the agency $14,000 more this year for gas purchases and volunteer reimbursements.

The mid-Michigan chapter of the American Red Cross expects to spend about $100,000 more for its blood services. The Salvation Army depends on driving the least of the three agencies, but still expects to spend about 70 percent more to gas up its vehicles.
