UPDATE - Rite Aid Employee Killed in Shooting

The first shooting happened at 11:07 A.M. Lansing Police got reports of shots fired at the Rite Aid on East Saginaw in Lansing, near the Frandor Shopping Center.

The suspect entered the Rite Aid, made contact with an employee, and shots were fired. The employee is confirmed to have died as a result of his injuries. The suspect then left the Rite Aid on foot and headed eastbound. He is still at large at this hour. Lansing Police attempted a canine track but lost his trail due to the rain.

Suspect is a black male around 30 years old, between 5' 8" and 5' 10" in height. He is wearing all black, and was carrying a black bag.

Police cannot confirm if the first shooting is related to the shooting in East Lansing, but they are not ruling it out.

The preliminary homicide investigation continues, according to Robert Merritt, public information officer for the Lansing Police Department.

Pinecrest and Glencairn Elementary schools in East Lansing are on lockdown, as well as Fairview, Pattengill and Lansing Catholic in the Lansing School District.
